Colors of Smoke Coming Out of the Exhaust and Their Causes
It can emit smoke in three different exhaust colors, black, white and blue, which usually indicates a problem. This can also be an indication that there is a problem.
Causes of Black Exhaust Fumes
If black smoke is coming out of the exhaust of your car, it means that too much fuel is being sent to the combustion chamber, that is, into the cylinder, and thanks to the unburned fuel, we will see black. Failure to properly adjust the fuel consumption of your vehicle occurs by sending excess fuel. This incident can also happen baecause there is an injector that leaks fuel. If the injectors transmit too much to the combustion chamber or the oxygen sensor in the exhaust system of vehicles is a sensor that is of great importance in determining the air-fuel ratio. If there is a problem here, it may be that the fuel is sent too much.
Causes of White Exhaust Smoke
It also means water vapor. In black smoke, it is an indicator of fuel, just as it is a fuel indicator in white smoke, it is an indicator of water. If you are starting the vehicle for the first time in cold start, if the engine is cold after a certain time, it is normal to see white smoke on your first start. This white smoke is formed by the evaporation of condensed water in the exhaust or by the release of water in another by-product during the combustion of fuel. If the engine raises its temperature but white smoke continues to come from the exhaust intensively, it indicates that it is distressed. This is formed by mixing the water in the combustion chamber. With the combustion temperature, the water evaporates and is expelled from the exhaust. Another reason is because the cylinder head gasket is no longer working. The top cover gasket is designed to allow water to pass around the engine without mixing and to cool the engine. But if water is leaking into the engine, there is a problem with this gasket. If you continue to use it like this for a long time, the temperature of the engine will rise much higher. In this way, you do not turn the water inside the cooling system, you reduce the water and send it to the engine frequently. After that, the engine may get too hot and go as far as winding the mattress, and if it is in a bad condition, there may be cracks in the engine. Because of the crack, the water goes directly into the combustion chamber, and there is not much that can be done in this case. Fixing the engine block is not a simple operation, but it can be done. It costs a little and may not be done correctly.
Such problems can also arise for the EGR system. In this case, the possibility of white smoke also occurs.
Causes of Blue Exhaust Fumes
Finally, this blue smoke, which means that the engine is burning oil, indicates that oil is being delivered into the combustion chamber. As a result, you may encounter the possibility of oil leakage from the valves or worn piston rings of the pistons.
